Mixed Media Workshops + Monthly Membership for Creative Souls and Crafty Hands

A note from Katie

If you’ve landed here expecting to see the wood crafts, tiered trays, or the mixed-media kits you remember, you’re not imagining things. They’re not here right now.

And there’s a reason.

Over the last of year, my capacity changed. My nervous system changed. The economy changed. And our family life shifted in a very real way.

I hit a level of burnout that I couldn’t creatively “push through” anymore. Making physical products at scale, inventory, timelines, shipping, pressure, started pulling me further away from why I began Huckleberry Gems in the first place. What once felt grounding started to feel heavy.

At the same time, my husband Dan’s business needed me in a bigger way. We made the decision for me to step in and help fill a gap, which meant moving my energy, focus, and time toward supporting our family and the work we’re building together. That choice mattered, and it required honesty about what I could realistically hold.

I didn’t walk away from creativity.

I chose a different way to stay in relationship with it.

What I noticed, both in myself and in so many of you, was that the real value wasn’t the finished piece. It was the pause. The process. The permission to sit down and make something without needing it to be perfect or productive.

So Huckleberry Gems shifted.

This space is no longer about producing more “stuff.” It’s about creating room for reflection, for meaning, for making with intention. The heart of this brand is still here. It just looks quieter, slower, and more sustainable than it used to.

If you’ve been part of this journey for a long time, thank you. Truly. If this new chapter resonates, I’m glad you’re here. And if you miss the old season, that makes sense too.

And if you want to continue following our family’s journey, including the work I’m doing alongside Dan, you can find us over at Sager & Sons Automotive, where we’re building something honest, grounded, and community-focused together.

Thank you for staying curious with me,
Katie

Be curious and creatively inspired whenever you need it!

If your creative spark’s been feeling… quiet—this is for you.

Whether you're here to paint something honest or knock out a cute craft in an afternoon, I’ve got something to help you show up, sit down, and make again.

Art journal prompts, messy mixed media workshops, digital papers. All made to fit the season you’re in, without the overwhelm. No rules. No perfection. Just space to breathe and create what you need today.

Hi, I’m Katie, the creative voice behind The Messy Page & Huckleberry Gems.

For as long as I can remember, making things has been how I make sense of life. It started with the hum of my Bama’s sewing machine, scraps of fabric in my lap, and the way her hands moved with ease and intention. I learned early that creativity isn’t just about what you make, it’s about how it makes you feel.

I spent years building Huckleberry Gems, designing wood kits and crafting experiences that brought joy and connection to homes all over the country. But somewhere along the way, I felt a pull to slow down… and go deeper. Less about cranking out physical products, and more about helping women create from a place of curiosity, expression, and personal growth.

That’s how The Messy Page was born.

Now, I create digital workshops, mixed media lessons, and journal-based experiences that give you permission to explore, play, and create in a way that feels nourishing, not pressured. I still love a good wood kit, but I also believe in painty fingers, torn paper, and pages that hold your stories.

This is a space where creative tools and soulful practice meet. Where your craft paints might sit next to your gel plate, and where a journal page can feel just as meaningful as a finished project.

If you’re here, you probably believe what I do that creativity isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. About giving yourself space to explore, express, and remember who you are beneath the noise.

So whether you come for the projects or the process, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
